Watchmen (2009)
One of Time Magazine’s 100 Best Novels of All Time has been made into a motion picture movie. Watchmen, a 12 Issue Compilation Graphic Novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, takes its unique storyline and impeccable illustrations and is turned into an action packed movie.
Taking place in New York City, the time period is set during the Cold War, where Richard Nixon is still president of the United States. The plot revolves around the protagonist of the movie, Rorschach investigating the murder of Edward Blake. He then finds out that Blake was the Comedian and that someone might be trying to eliminate all the masked adventurers. Through a series of events, the film’s antagonist , Adrian Veidt AKA "Ozymandias" and uncover his plans to help end the Cold War, but it proves to involve a series of conspiracies and destruction against the Watchmen.
This movie contains many different elements, but one thing is for sure, it is action packed. Body parts are dismantled, blood spurts and intense fight scenes, this movie is not afraid of violence and trying to do justice to the novel. Be warned that there is a brutal rape scene that takes place, so it not for the very young or faint of heart. The movie also contains a touch of romance between the Watchmen characters.
This is a highly anticipated movie that had a high demand to be made after the success and popularity of its novel version. Action packed and a plot twisted plot that makes you think, Watchmen is sure to be a reminiscent of its past novel popularity.
