About The Watchmen novel

Watchmen Novel: Watchmen is set in a world that closely resembles the contemporary world of the 1980s, with the presence of superheroes. The existence of superhero’s in this version of America has proven to dramatically alter the outcomes of real-world events like the Vietnam War. Even though the costumed crimefighters are called “superheroes”, Dr. Manhattan is the only Watchmen Character who actually possesses superhuman powers. The U.S. uses Dr. Manhattan as a military advantage over other countries, which builds tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. As costumed vigilantes grow unpopular among the public, in 1977 superheroes are outlawed under the Keene Act of 1977. Although many heroes retire because of this, Dr. Manhattan, The Comedian, and Rorschach continue to operate as costumed crimefighters.
